View Full Version : Ada, Ohio - Ohio Northern University DGC
18 Chainstars, delivered. Pin placements are now staked and flagged. The tees are not yet marked; they will be natural grass tees, for starters. Will be cutting a couple woods holes and mulching pathways in the next few weeks. Other than that, all holes are in mowed areas. There are 5 or 6 water holes (lakes with fountains). Two sets of tees (the shorts will have longer walks in between holes to try to have a beginner-friendly course for the college students & the longs will be LONG-- probably about 75oo to 8ooo feet). The wind, the water, the excellent groundskeeping, and the college atmosphere will make this one well worth the trip. Big thanks to Andrew Schrum for bringing this course to life.
We will be posting a workday soon. Probably will be sunday june 22, or soon after the Hambrick. We'd love to have some extra hands for the basket installations. Post here, or e-mail me or Andrew if interested.
ummm, in Ada, Ohio at Ohio Northern University?
or more specifically, in the northwest quadrant of the state. =)
driving directions to ONU:
http://admissions.onu.edu/visits/directions.html
the targets are installed. go play.
andrew's campus number is 419-772-3271.
Who's gonna list the new course in the PDGA directory... or are they waiting until the new TOP SECRET database version of the directory is up ... the one that is searchable by ZipCode??¿
Hope there are a few obstacles... and maybe a teenie bit of elevation change, but I think Ada is awful flat.
Anybody got a map of the course..... email it to me mailto:Go_DiscGolf@go.com and I'll post it on GoDiscGolf.com my website for handy printouts.
I just happen to know the ONU webmaster/ media contact at the U too! Hi Jeanine.
hey... pass this message to ohio northern univ... they should go to bdga.org and set up a competition with the university of ky disc golf team... they are always ready for a new challenge..
I helped install the baskets Ty and the course has numerous obstacles including trees, ponds, and some interesting sculptures. The pro tees are very challenging. You should contact Andrew when you head out there. Some more info is at discgolfohio.com
Guess I'll have to call Andy then... HeadsUp Discgolfohio.com isn't loading. They must of switched hosts or something cause all that brings up is LunarPages.com... looks like a good domain host. I was considering them myself.
They need an artist there on campus to draw up a map and let us webbies check it out!
Are the Basket's or Tee's numbered?
Where is the first Tee...?
I can't make it over there till Sat. evening earliest... unless I call off, but then Jeanine knows my boss and maybe she'll see me...LOL!
I hate replying directly after I replied but I felt this was worthy..... here's the link to the course... this is prem-O' mature landscaping the likes of which hasn't been seen at a NW Ohio course, let alone a University from this area before....... I give you the LINK!

For anyone on a low-band modem wait for the opening shot of the water hazard to load it's worth the loadtime .... sweet.... And yes there is a course map ... it's a bitmap so it takes some loadtime as well..... watch for the colorized web-friendly version to be uploaded to ... GoDiscGolf.com shortly!
I expect that Ohio Northern U will be upgraded to Ivy-league status w/ the grounds improvements of this DG course at anytime! Don't forget to rock the Vote you Disc Golfer's... vote for the parks and let them know who voted.... A frisbee in every household..... I digress... lol!
