Mission

The 2008 Microtel Disc Golfer Awards celebrate, not only disc golf, but the countless PDGA members who keep our sport going and growing.

Quite simply, the mission of this program is to celebrate the spirit of disc golf, which is a spirit of community, friendship, environmental stewardship, personal independence, and recreation. For over 30 years now, disc golf has been played among friends, in beautiful parks, with the goal of getting some exercise and enjoying the company of our fellow players.

The award is NOT designed to celebrate those that shoot the lowest scores, but those that give to the sport and best capture the disc golf spirit. By recognizing the people who do so much for disc golf and the PDGA, the Microtel Disc Golfer Awards program will provide a forum for those in our disc community who's dedication has long warranted recognition.

We do hope that you will nominate your friend, course pro, or local volunteer who personifies the spirit of disc golf. Clearly, many people are deserving. Let us know who you think should win and why.

Nominations

Nominations for the 2008 Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Awards can be submitted via the online nomination form located at www.pdga.com/dgawards/nominate.php. A winner will be chosen about every two weeks throughout the 2008 season.

All winners will be eligible for the Microtel Disc Golfer of the YEAR award, which will be announced at the United States Disc Golf Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina in October.

Eligibility

The Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction award is open to current PDGA members only

Winners will only be chosen from members who are nominated via the online nomination form.

Current members can only win the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction award once per calendar year.

Current members can be nominated more than once.

Nominations

Nominations for the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award must be received by the PDGA office on the Friday prior to the week that the award is announced. A new award will be given approximately every two weeks.

Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award nominees will be reviewed and evaluated by the PDGA Office.

Award Winners

Winners of the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award will be selected and announced every other Wednesday until late September and the program will conclude with the presentation of the Disc Golfer of the Year Award in October at the United States Disc Golf Championship.

Winners of the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award will be based on the strength of the nominating statement and how well the nominees' actions personify the spirit of disc golf.

All decisions are final.

Winners of the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award will receive $100 (for Pro Players) or a $100 merchandise voucher for pdgastore.com (for Amateur Players).

Winners of the Microtel Disc Golfer of Distinction Award will be posted at www.pdga.com/dgawards

Each of the Microtel Disc Golfer Distinction Award winners will then be eligible for the Microtel Disc Golfer of the Year Award which will be awarded in Rock Hill, SC during the week of the United States Disc Golf Championship.

The winner of the Microtel Disc Golfer of the Year Award will receive a $1000 cash prize (if a Pro) or a $1000 merchandise/membership voucher (if an Amateur).
