DGA Mach X to Premier at The Memorial

DGA Mach X to Premier at The Memorial

Monday, February 10, 2014 - 13:05

The Disc Golf Association, Inc. (DGA) and the Memorial Championship presented by Discraft are happy to announce that DGA’s new Mach X Basket will be installed at Fountain Hills Park just in time for the kickoff of the 2014 PDGA National Tour Elite Series. The Memorial Championship is always the first stop on the National Tour bringing in hundreds of players and spectators from across the country. For many, the tournament provides a combination of great disc golf and the perfect opportunity to escape the winter weather of their home town in exchange for the warmth and sunshine of Arizona

One of the two courses used for the tournament is Fountain Hills Park, located 20 minutes or so northeast of Scottsdale. A large man-made lake sits in the center of the park and the 18 holes that make up the disc golf course wrap around the lake. Park visitors gather at the top of each hour to watch the infamous fountain, formerly the tallest water foundtain in the world, blast off, shooting water 300+ feet into the air. Throw in great weather and scenic backdrops of Four Peaks and the Mazatzal Mountains and it's easy to see why Fountain Hills Park is one of the most asthetically pleasing courses around today.

What could make this already amazing disc golf course just a little bit more awesome? Would 18 brand new DGA Mach X Baskets seal the deal for you? Well, you're in luck.

“The Memorial has been our targeted goal for launching the Mach X since late in the development stages. DGA is excited to be showcasing the evolution of the disc golf basket at the true kickoff event of the 2014 season,” says Scott Keasey (#19655), General Manager of DGA. Keasey and the Memorial Championship staff have worked hard over the past few months on this arrangement and their hard work has paid off. It's a win for all parties involved.

Memorial Championship Co-Tournament Director, Keith Murray (#15668) said, “Scott Keasey and DGA have been a great partner of the Memorial Championship presented by Discraft for years now and this is more than we could have asked for. To showcase a great new catching device at our event is truly an honor!”

DGA will be sponsoring the Mach X Birdie Hunt during all amateur rounds at Fountain Hills Park. The amateur divisions play Fountain Hills Park on day 1 and then a final round there again on day 3. Each birdie carded by a player during either round will automatically enter him/her in for a chance to win a free Mach X Basket, meaning a potential of 36 entries for a single player. The drawing for the basket will happen during the Memorial Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 1st, after the final round.

We're now less than 3 weeks away from the start of the PDGA National Tour Elite Series!

Didn't Arroyo bring this design to the memorial last year? Why would DGA be ground breaking and innovative if they are just ripping off someone elses design?

Please keep spreading the word!!!
Yes ArroyoDiscSports was the first to do this. DGA does not deserve the credit or the respect for this basket design.
Very shady move by them and karma is a five-letter-word.

Shame on DGA!!!! I'm going to stop throwing your plastic. http://www.arroyodiscsports.com/ was the first to make a basket with this type of technology and has been selling them for about 2 years now. DGA just ripped off the idea and marketing it as their own. Stating they were the "first". Shame, shame, shame. This is not what the sport of disc golf is about. Where's the integrity?
BOOOOOOO Scott Keasey!!!!
