Portland's Piece of Disc Golf Paradise Plays Host to PDGA National Tour this Memorial Weekend at 2009 Beaver State Fling

After taking a year off in 2008, Milo McIver State Park, just south of Portland, Oregon  will once again play host to the PDGA National Tour this Memorial Day weekend at the Beaver State Fling.

Defending Men's Open champion Steve Rico will once again be challenged by the talent-filled field that sold out over the Internet in an amazing eight-hour span.  Top players, like last week's NT winner, Gregg Barsby will be there, as well as Ken Climo, Dave Feldberg, Avery Jenkins, Josh Anthon, Jay Reading and Nate Doss.  There will also be plenty of intrigue in the Mens Open Division with the youth movement represented by Matt Orum and British Columbia's phenom, Braedon Simmonds, who will turn 17 on Sunday.

Defending Beaver State Women's Open Champion Kathy Manley will not be in the field this year, opting to spend precious time with her new baby.  And while Manley will be missed, the 13-women Open field will certainly be doing battle with the likes of Valarie Jenkins and Des Reading  renewing, what seems like their every weekend, rivalry in Portland.  Carrie Berlogar and Liz Lopez are expected to make strong showings, as well.

Milo McIver State Park is truly one of the gems of disc golf anywhere in the world, and you will be able to follow all the action online with video wrap-up shows, live scoring, and photos from throughout the weekend.  Stay tuned to pdga.com for complete coverage of this year's Beaver State Fling.
