The 2013 PDGA Amateur World Doubles Championship, hosted by Circular Productions and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, tees off tomorrow from beautiful Selah Ranch in Mount Vernon, Texas. Player check-in and a host of pre-event festivities for this PDGA Major are already underway today with 222 competitors enjoying practice rounds, food, music and a host of other fun activities before the more serious competition begins early on Saturday morning.

The event has already garnered an unprecedented amount of support from the local community with scores of volunteers on site to assist with the event thanks to the partnership with the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. The former Mayor of Mount Vernon will be acting as tour guide on the shuttles that are scheduled to bring out spectators from the town throughout the weekend. Visitors can watch the competition from designated viewing areas or participate in planned activities such as, pro-clinics, disc golf putting games, a hole-in-one contest, and kid games. There will also be food and merchandise vendors available. The event will benefit Lake County CASA, one of 946 such nationwide programs that serve children in Franklin, Delta, Hopkins, and Titus counties in Texas. The group works to ensure that every child who needs an advocate to speak for his or her best interests before the courts has a caring, trained adult to help them with this difficult period of his or her life.

DiscGolfPlanet.tv will be streaming the event live beginning tonight with the opening ceremonies, interviews, and ring of fire from 6:00pm – 8:00pm CST. Coverage of competition rounds on Saturday and Sunday will take place from 1:00pm-6:00pm CST. Viewers can log into PDGA.com or DiscGolfPlanet.tv to catch all of the action.
