The 2011 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships will be held from August 7-13, 2011 in the Monterey Bay, California area. There will also be a Volunteer's BBQ and Tournament on Sunday, August 14.

There will be four courses and you will play 27 holes per day. The maximum competitors will be limited to 432 and it should be a great time with 200 volunteers and a staff of 35.

Monterey Bay is a tourist destination, there are numerous activities going on all summer long and event promoters are scrambling to make their event special.  If the sun is out all the hotels will be filled.  Lodging is always the main concern.  It is expensive here.  We have a great agreement with the largest hotel in Santa Cruz which is the University Inn & Conference Center (host hotel).

The University Inn & Conference Center (UCSC INN) has 152 rooms with double occupancy, available.  The rate for Sunday through Thursday is $103.00 and Friday through Saturday is $159.00. You can two more people per room at $10.00 per person.  Please see their website at www.uscsinn.com and you must state that you are with the PDGA to get this rate.

If  you are planning on coming to the 2011 Pro Worlds please do not delay on your lodging plans!

We will be using four classic Nor-Cal courses. Green grass is something that disappears during the summer months and in August you will find the courses brown and dry. The ground is hard, rollaway putts seem to roll a little further. However this is our house and we invite you to come and join us. August weather is usually in the mid 70's to low 80's with no rain and no bugs. Sometimes there is a little fog in the morning which will burn off as the day goes by.

Special Events:
Sunday: University of California East Field for Distance and Putting. This event takes place on a field that overlooks the Monterey Bay.
Monday: Opening Ceremonies, Mini Golf, and Doubles.
Tuesday: The movie "CHAINS" Disc Golf Documentary Premier.
Wednesday: Tournament Dinner featuring, Hall of Fame and PDGA awards along with the "World Disc Talk Show", hosted by Greg Barsby and the band Split Shot.
Thursday: Distance exhibition off the Santa Cruz Wharf, Putting finals and Flymart at the beach (4-8pm)

Volunteers:
We need 200 volunteers, so if you are interested please check the website. To us, volunteers are the life blood of the event. Efforts to make the volunteer experience unique is our highest priority. We know your time is valuable and can assure you that volunteers will not go unnoticed.  If you love Disc Golf and your passion calls you please consider joining our team.
