Texas States Celebrates It’s 15th Year
The Texas State Disc Golf Championships, hosted by the Houston Flying Disc Society, will be having its 15th consecutive annual event in Houston this weekend. Incredibly, a Houstonian has never won the MPO division here and this may be the year it happens with local sponsored pros Dixon Jowers, Jim Davidson, Matt Hall and Robbie Bratten ready for the battle. With $5000 added cash, and lots of extra fun activities, several touring pros including Des and Jay Reading, Liz Lopez and Eric McCabe have stuck close to home this weekend to go for Texas State titles at this tradition laden event. Besides a full field of 216 players representing most PDGA divisions, this years Pro/Am A-Tier will feature the largest MPG field ever assembled for competition in the state of Texas. The weather is looking good and the three courses, all in one location at Tom Bass Park, are in the best shape they have been in years. With a full field and a growing waitlist HFDS is considering expanding the TxSDGC field next year, so remember Texas States in your 2011 plans.
